Electrolux learned it the hard way when their vacuum cleaner commercial, with the headline, “Nothing sucks like an Electrolux,” did not resonate well with American audiences. The verb “sucks” in American slang has derogatory and negative connotations.

Avoiding such mistakes is necessary.
